Back to school next week – help!
Our children are keen to get back to school after the holidays. And we want to give them every encouragement to succeed. But we’re still short of money to pay school fees and buy new uniforms and mountains of stationery. Your help – in the form of a generous donation – would be such a blessing right now.
Donations received over the Christmas period have gone a long way towards preparing our kids for the new school year. We were over the moon when a local company donated all the school shoes we need.
But, just as we thought we were all set, some new children were placed at our Centre. And they arrived with nothing but some worn t-shirts, pants and hoodies.
We’ve spent the first weeks of January doing assessments, so that the children can be placed in the most suitable schools. And only now that they have been accepted at various local schools, can we begin the task of shopping for uniforms, books and stationery.
Please will you help by making your special ‘back to school’ donation now?
As little as R100 helps buy pens, pencils and crayons for one of the smaller kids. R260 pays for a school backpack. And R550 buys two school dresses. Any amount you can spare will be a great help.
And if you make your donation now before the end of February, you can claim part of it back from the tax man!
All donations to the Durban Child & Youth Care Centre are tax deductible in terms of Section 18A. Claim your certificate now and save on your tax if you’re a South African tax payer.

But it’s not a perfect world.
The Durban Child & Youth Care Centre strives to give children who’ve been orphaned, abandoned, neglected or abused, another chance of a happy childhood. We provide a safe home, all the daily necessities, education and encouragement to help them develop into healthy, well-adjusted kids.
Wherever possible, we work with the family to enable children to return home. Because every child needs a place to belong.

Choose the Durban Child & Youth Care Centre as the beneficiary of your MySchool card and help raise funds every time you swipe the card.
Volunteer
Helping with homework, mentoring older children and sewing clothes are just some of the ways you can make a difference.
Maintenance
Provide a regular monthly service like removal of garden refuse, or general maintenance like replacing light bulbs and tap washers.
Fundraise for us
Run a marathon and ask your friends to sponsor you ... or ask for donations to DCYCC in lieu of birthday or Christmas gifts.
