What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We collect personal information (also commonly known as personally identifiable information or personal data) directly from you, in order to record, acknowledge and manage donations made through the website, requests to opt-in to our communications and other services that may be offered through the website. This information may include any of the following:

Name and contact details, e.g. email address, phone number, etc;
Amount and date of donations;
Additional comments/instructions made on any forms on the website;
Other information that may be exchanged in the course of engaging with our website.

We cannot collect any personal information, unless it has supplied directly by you.

Please note that we do not collect credit card details on this website. If you choose to make a donation or payment using your credit card, you will be transferred to our secure payment gateway, VCS/DPO Paygate, to input card details.

User Generated Content

If you submit a review, recommendation, endorsement, query or other User Generated Content through other websites including Facebook, Instagram, Google, and other similar channels, we may share that review, recommendation, endorsement or content publicly on our website.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Click here to view the Gravatar privacy policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Who has access to your personal information?

We may provide access to your personal information to employees of the Durban Child & Youth Care Centre, our consultants and other businesses or persons involved in processing donations, providing services, or compiling communications. These parties agree to protect the confidentiality of your information consistent with the terms of this Privacy Notice.

Retention of data

The Durban Child & Youth Care Centre will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Notice and to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes and enforce our legal agreements and policies. Credit card details are not collected or stored on our website.

All online credit card transactions are processed by Payfast, a secure online payment gateway which is PCI DSS compliant with World Class Fraud Management Solutions. For more information please click here.

Donations

We accept credit card/debit card donations from all over the world, but all transactions are processed in South African Rand [ZAR]. Should you be donating from another country, please use a currency converter if necessary to ensure you understand the value of your donation in ZAR.
Refunds

Should you wish for any reason to cancel your online donation, you may do so within seven (7) days and receive a full refund (less bank charges). Kindly notify us of any refund required by emailing info@dch.org.za.
